Abstract: Interest groups are a controversial topic, especially in the U.S. with Big Pharma, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Lowering taxes on business or the NRA. Some argue that these and many other corporations hold to big of an influence in the government and make policies that rather serve the company's interest in opposite to the public. Another group is making the point that interest groups are in a competetive environment where one group is met against another with opossing interests. The Bachelor's thesis will introduce us to how does the U.S. government look like, how does the US government govern, how a law becomes a bil and what role do interest groups play in influencing the lawmaking process in America, and how the political theories describe and categorize interest groups . Main Aim: To have a broader picture on the subject of Interest groups influencing the political lansdscape in the United States, their history, functions, how different political theories view them, and to be mindful of the different intricacies that are in play, for example what are PACs and Super PACs, and their immense role in lobbying or Litigation, by which the I.G. can attack a law or a practise in court and deem it unconstitutional.
