Abstract

Annotation The Diploma thesis “Teaching English to Young Learners” deals with questions that influence the process of language education at primary level. The thesis describes the theories of language development, the influence of brain, the ability to learn languages, explain the differences between language acquisition and language learning. Further it deals with the power of cognitive factors and intelligence, the question when to start language learning, it brings the ideas of approaches to young learners, the role of the teacher, the importance of positive classroom environment that support learners self esteem and security. Moreover, the thesis describes the types of classroom organization, its advantages and disadvantages. It elaborates the problem of assessment and the positive effect of visuals on children. The practical part consists of lesson plans, worksheets and classroom displays that are included in the appendix. …víceméně
