Polyamory is a phenomenon that has recently become a part of everyday life and the public consciousness in Czechia, as it has in many parts of the world. It is, however, something which has been especially hard to conceptually define, and so many people define it very differently. Whilst there is a growing body of sociological work on polyamory, how it is approached is likewise varied. This exploratory study aims to create a theoretical and conceptual basis for researching polyamory within the context of Czech society by centering the empirical reality of Czech people who identify as polyamorous or as practicing polyamory. It does not seek to make any conclusions, but rather aims to serve as a useful starting point for thinking about polyamory in dialogue with the lived experiences of polyamorous people and not just based on the theoretical positions of scientists and activists.
