Anotace

Předmětem předkládané práce je analýza názvů čínských pokrmů a jejich českých ekvivalentů. Čínské názvy pokrmů často obsahují odkazy na kulturní kontext, které jsou vyjádřeny různými básnickými prostředky. Z toho důvodu přirozeně dochází k rozdílům v interpretaci názvů těchto pokrmů v češtině. Práce má za cíl najít odlišnosti mezi těmito názvy, a to nejen v rámci jednoho jazyka, ale také na úrovni …více

Zadání práce
The research aims to contribute to a better understanding of the dish names in Chinese restaurants in the Czech Republic. The intention is to find the differences in meaning between Chinese dish names and their Czech translations, which methods are mostly used for their interpretation, and how they can be improved. The understanding and translation of Chinese dish names is a discipline that requires special attention because their history is rich, and their reader also needs some knowledge of Chinese cultural background to understand their names if the translation is not concise. The attempts to translate the Chinese dish names were set in motion especially while the Olympic Games took place in Beijing in 2008. The results of all studies afterward provided data in English or other translations, but this research focuses on the Czech environment. For the research were collected data from ten restaurants that came from the two largest cities in the Czech Republic – Prague and Brno. The majority of Chinese restaurants in the bigger cities in the Czech Republic have the menu usually in Chinese and Czech, therefore it allows to build a set of parallel texts for a Multi-Parallel-Text method. This approach allows to make a comparison of the same dish names in different translations. Even though there already were some attempts in different languages to accurately interpret Chinese dish names, every language is unique and requires a special approach from the researcher. The Czech approach is what makes this work innovative and useful not even for the future researchers that would be interested in interpreting the Chinese dish names into Czech, but also for the general population that would like to learn more about the dishes that they are ordering in Chinese restaurants. Eventually, it could serve as an useful tool for potential Chinese restaurant owners that would like to improve the quality of their menu.
