The theoretical part deals with theory about slang and various notions of non-literary formations connected with slang, e.g. argot, dialect, jargon, loans etc. It treats many definitions of slang given by many linguists and discusses slang form the sociolinguistic, lexical and methodological point of view. Practical part concerns with student research about students slang. 2. Shrnutí dosavadního stavu řešení či poznání (stručná rešerše, východisko pro cíl práce, formulace výzkumných problémů apod.) Slang in general is regarded as a disputable topic in the field of linguistics. It has been treated by various Czech and foreign linguists who have defined this term from various aspects. Concerning Czech linguists, it was mainly Jaroslav Hubáček who dealt with slang in his works: O Českých Slanzích and Malý Slovník Českých Slangů. He described various classes of slang, their word-formation processes with concrete examples of words, included the students slang, as well. Concerning non-standard style of English, slang is discussed in many works. C.C. Eble and her Slang and Sociabilty is a good example of creating and developing slang expressions in English language. 3. Cíl práce The aim of the thesis is to present students slang as a formation of non-literary speech in the linguistic field from various aspects, i.e. from theoretical and practical point of view. Theory is supported by concrete examples of Czech as well as English slang words to stress the main differences in both languages. The aim of practical part is to show particular examples of slang in practise in a form of students research. 4. Pracovní postup (přístup k řešení, metody, techniky, nástroje apod.)
