The thesis analyzes China’s status as a non-market economy (NME) at the WTO and the ongoing dispute about this status at the organization. Firstly, the thesis introduces the historical and political context of the adoption and functioning of the NME status as well as the amount of trade that the status affects. The aim of this thesis is to analyze the ongoing dispute over China’s non-market economy status (NME) in the World Trade Organization (WTO). The thesis first explains what the NME status is and briefly introduces the historical and political context of its adoption and functioning. Furthermore, the thesis tries to identify the amount of trade affected by this status. The second part of the thesis shows how is the NME status used to calculate anti-dumping measures and what are the differences in the methodologies used by the USA and the EU.
