Course objectives
This course, based on video screenings of selected Czech films in the full version and with English subtitles, examines key periods in the history of Czech cinema and the typical styles and genres that have won such acclaim for Czech films internationally.

Jiří Menzel: Closely Watched Trains (Ostře sledované vlaky, 1966) 6. Jiří Menzel: Short Cut (aka Cutting in Short, Postřiziny, 1980) 7. a 8. Frantisek Vláčil: Marketa Lazarová 9. Ján Kadár, Elmar Klos: The Shop on Main Street (Obchod na korze, 1965) 10. Juraj Herz: The Cremator (Spalovač mrtvol, 1968) 11. Jan Švangmajer: Little Otík (Otesánek, 2000)
