Course objectives
The contents of the course consist of thirteen topics on human resource management in companies. Students will get an overview of basic areas of human resource management issues in companies. The lectures will focus on modern trends in the field of HR management. The course will also provide students with examples of the world's leading companies, pioneers in the field of human resource management. Specific issues of human resource management in small organizations will only be mentioned marginally. Students will learn about how to process specific kinds of personnel agenda and procedures used in personnel administration. Teams of students will set up fictitious companies and in a number of seminars they will have to implement tasks related to the management of human resources in these companies - always relating it to the topics presented in lectures. They will present the outcome of their work in lectures.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- understand the impact and importance of human resources for the organization
- be familiar with the main functions and stages of the process of human resource management
- understand specific procedures and techniques of human resources management
- acquire basic knowledge for practical application
- acquire an overview of current literary sources dealing with the discussed issues

Assessment methods
1. Presentation of completed tasks associated with fictitious firms. Students will take turns to present their work in seminars.
2. Working out a semestral work ranging from 4 to 6 standard pages on a selected topic concerning HRM. Evaluation of this work is part of the final classification.
3. Examination and final test classification: The condition of successful completion of the examination test: satisfactory answer to at least 60% of questions.
If a student commits a prohibited act, such as using various forbidden tools (e.g. cheat sheets), cribbing, taking out any part of the credit test or any other form of cheating, the teacher is allowed to interrupt the test and to grade the student with F, FF or even FFF, according to the seriousness of the offence. The described procedure applies to all the activities that are included in the final evaluation of the course (seminar work).
If a student succeeds in the written test and wants to improve the classification, they can sign up for an oral exam.
