- Course objectives
- The course is organized as a combination of group and subsequent individual consultations.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of this course, students should be able to:
- formulate thesis objectives properly,
- set proper working hypotheses,
- choose relevant methods to work up the thesis,
- choose information sources,
- generalize acquired pieces of knowledge,
- present the thesis as well as its contribution. - Syllabus
- - Main contentual and formal requisites for working on a thesis.
- - Main criteria for thesis evaluation.
- - Most frequent issues.
- - Citations, research of sources, ethics, plagiatorism.
- - Individual consultations for detailed objective settings, thesis structure and methodics for a particular student's thesis.
- A seminar focusing on the presentation of thesis drafts will take place in the 11th week: students present their thesis draft versions in small groups. They are supposed to present and defend the topic, objectives, methods, logical structure, expected findings, and current results. They also have to answer questions from their colleagues.

- Teaching methods
- The lessons consist of the presentations of the scientific and research methods, case studies of the selected thesis (“good practice” examples), class discussions and individual consultations.
- Assessment methods
- There are three requirements students have to fulfill:
(1) active attendance at both group and individual consultations,
(2) measurable progress of the text of a thesis,
(3) presentation of the thesis draft and its defence. - Language of instruction
