Course objectives
Company networks represent the coordinating organizational form between the hierarchical structure of the conventional enterprise and the market. Company networks are to be understood as an answer to the development trends of the environment of the enterprise, particularly to the increasing competition on the dynamic relevant markets. The course is focused on the knowledge of this organizational structure, as well as its possibilities and limits. At the end of this course, students should be able to understand and explain the nature of corporate networks and its integration into the relevant theoretical scientific disciplines. They also should be able to describe the organizational and procedural way of the decision-making-process. This acquired knowledge will be of great significance in the implementation of management skills.
Syllabus
  • The course will be held in form of six block-seminars, each block lasts 4 hours. Thematic plan of the course: 1. Introduction to the problem. 2. Theory and synopsis. 3. Company networks in the real life. 4. Strategic management and critical success factors. 5. Decision-making-process and implementation. 6. Company networks in research-examples.
Teaching methods
The teaching is based on the active participation of all students. Students must write and present a research paper. It is also mandatory to work as a part of a team during practical case studies and business games.
Assessment methods
It is imperative that students attend at least five of six block seminars. The weighting factor assigned to each particular exam part: student research paper=2, presentation=1, oral examination=3. Grading scale: : 1=A, 2=B, 3=C.
