Course objectives
The aim of this course is to introduce basics of biology especially chemical structure of living organisms, basics of cell biology, genetics, evolution and animal physiology. This course continues as Biology Panorama II in the next semester.
Syllabus
  • Chemical structure of living organisms: biogenous elements, anorganic and organic matters, their circulation and function in organisms, structure and function of amino acids and proteins. Structure and function of cell: cytoplasm, cell-wall, intracellular membrane system, mitochondrias, nucleus, cytoskeleton. Bacteria and viruses. Nucleus, chromosomes, DNA and genetic information: genetic code, gene and its forms, structure and organisation of genome, basic replication characteristics, transcription and translation, protein synthesis, changes in genetic information. Cellular cycle and its phases, division, aging and cellular death, cellular cycle control. Mendel laws, heredity. Basics of evolution and rise of species. Animal tissues: epithelium, bond, muscular and neural tissues. Main organs system: epithelium, skeleton, muscles, digestive tract, respiratory system, excretion, blood stream, neural system, sense perception, system endocrine, reproduction. Nutrition, food intake and digestion.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
Předmět je vyučován v českém jazyce, materiály jsou z větší části v anglickém jazyce. Forma zakončení: kolokvium. Studenti jsou hodnoceni na základě písemné práce bez pomůcek.
