Abstract

Yogalates belongs to the Body & Mind exercise category. It is a combination of yoga and Pilates that blends elements of both methods into a slow-paced, technically focused class. The emphasis is placed primarily on precise execution of individual exercises and on learning correct breathing techniques. The practice supports overall body harmony, stretching of shortened muscles, and strengthening of weakened muscle groups.

Main goals of yogalates instruction:

  • improving the level of movement skills and overall physical fitness

  • supporting a positive attitude toward physical activity as a means of preventing conflicts, lifestyle diseases, and stress

  • promoting a healthy lifestyle among students

  • learning correct execution of basic yoga asanas and Pilates exercises

  • acquiring their variations in sequences and understanding the principles of yogic movement

  • learning correct performance of Pilates method exercises

  • adopting proper breathing patterns
