- Course objectives
- The aim of the course is to understand the issue of lifestyle and to understand that it is primarily a typically interdisciplinary issue. Furthermore, students will be introduced to the positive and negative effects of a healthy lifestyle on the body systems of the general population in different age periods with an emphasis on the primary prevention of non-infectious diseases of mass occurrence.
- Learning outcomes
- A graduate of this subject will be able to:
- define the quality of a person's life in relation to the state of health;
- describe and explain the basic determinants of health;
- learn the methods of measuring the quality of life in the area of physical, psychological and social aspects;
- describe and explain the basic determinants of lifestyle;
- describe the basic determinants of disease and be able to evaluate a person's way of life in relation to health;
- understand the biological effect of a healthy lifestyle on individual human systems;
- describe the meaning of sleep and its effect on a person's health;
- apply the principles of a healthy lifestyle to the everyday life of an individual in the entire ontogenetic spectrum.

- 1. Introduction to the issue of quality of life assessment.
- 2. Basic assessment of quality of life.
- 3. Introduction to lifestyle and health issues.
- 4. Basic determinants of health and disease.
- 5. Genetics as a determinant of health. Health predisposition. Prone to addictions.
- 6. Health care - preventive programs. Healthcare level.
- 7. Environmental conditions (environment, character of residence, social climate).
- 8. Lifestyle (physical activity, nutrition, sleep)
- 9. Biological effect of a healthy lifestyle across ontogeny.
- 10. Negative lifestyle factors affecting health (fitness level, nutrition, addictions).
- 11. Documents from the field of healthy lifestyle (WHO, European Center for Disease Prevention and Control, Ministry of Health, State Health Institute).
