- Course objectives
- The aim is to introduce students:
- to theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the area of Body and Mind.
- to the possibility of developing the emotional, social, and mental side of the personality through physical activities.
- to the possibility of use of Body and Mind activities across the different groups of the population (children, adults, marginally also people with special needs). - Learning outcomes
- The student will:
- be able to explain the importance of the mutual influence of movement and mind, the influence of movement on the whole personality, including emotional, social, and mental aspects;
- know and be able to explain the meaning, ways, and principles of physical activities belonging to the Body and Mind group and others that strengthen the emotional, social, and mental side of the individual;
- to know how to evolve the emotional-social development of an individual through physical activities – the development of competencies in communication, cooperation, creativity, and empathy;
- be able to develop an appropriate exercise program focusing on the following aspects:
work with the breath, deeper perception of the body, proprioception, activation of the deep stabilization system of the spine;
- will be able to use physical activities and techniques such as yoga, pilates, breathing exercises, and relaxation exercises (autogenic training, Jacobson muscle relaxation, yoga relaxation, relaxation in psychomotorics);
- will be able to discuss the choice of the chosen physical activity;
- will be able to evaluate changes before and after the application of the regenerating mean. - Syllabus
- 1. Determination of Body and Mind styles with a focus on breathing exercises, deeper body awareness and deep stabilization system of the spine. Theoretical basis of the influence of movement on other aspects of personality (emotional, social, mental).
- 2. Individual styles Points above Mind – yoga, pilates, SM system
- 3. Breathing exercises – different approaches
- 4. Relaxation techniques - progressive muscle relaxation, Autogenic training, yoga relaxation,
- 5. Postural stability and deep stabilization system of the spine
- 6. Body perception, proprioception, perception of tension and relaxation
- 7. Development of emotional, social and mental aspects of personality through physical activities in adults
- 8. Development of emotional, social and mental aspects of personality through physical activities in children (psychomotor exercises)
- 9. Use of music in physical activities, training, relaxation, and deeper body perception
