- Course objectives
- The main goal of this course is to provide basic knowledge in Physical therapy and its usage in prevention, examination and therapy of musculoskeletal and nervous system influencing all parts of human existence as a part of comprehensive rehabilitation. It´s important to meet a student with general principles of individual physical therapy parts, physiological or patophysiological organism response on their application and with possibilities of phototherapy and electrotherapy.The main goal of practical course is to provide practical skills in mechanotherapy especially focused on practice in reflexology.
- Learning outcomes
- The student is able to:
- perform reflexology massage;
- discuss the selection of used techniques;
- assess the current state of the musculoskeletal system;
- identify the appropriate type of massage with regard to goal setting;
- evaluate the condition on the basis of subjective and objective parameters before and after application. - Syllabus
- Lectures:
- 01. Reflexology and its effects, physiological base.
- 02. Introduction into phototherapy: - definition, general principles, therapeutical effects, methodology applications, contra/indications.
- 03. Phototherapy:
- - UVA, UVB, UVC;
- - IRA, IRB, IRC;
- - Polarized light (biolamp)
- - Polarized light (laser)
- 04. Electrotherapy:
- Dividing of electrotherapy. General principles.
- Electrodes and their wraps, ways of application, intensity.
- Relationship between the type of current, the effect and intensity.
- Galvanic current (current density) and its application.
- Four-chamber bath with application of galvanic current.
- Alternating and pulsed currents, terms.
- Low-frequency currents – Leduc´s, Farad´s, Neofarad´s.
- H-waves

- Practical course:
- 01. Segment technque. Search reflective changes (apsection, palpation). - Touches: Pusched spiral, with two thumbs, among processi spinosi. Touches: Saw touch, sliding vibration, intermitent pull down. Edges shoulder-blade massage. M. trapezius massage. Under the shoulder-blade massage. Intercostal muscles massage. M. supraspinatus and infraspinatus massage. Vibration of the whole back. Trapezoidal touch. Neck muscles massage. Linea nuchae terminalis massage. Forehead massage. Cranial arch massage. Swab from the brow ridges to shoulder girdle.
