Physical therapy II, Physical therapy in practice II, Anatomy II - Course Enrolment Limitations
- The course is only offered to the students of the study fields the course is directly associated with.
- fields of study / plans the course is directly associated with
- Physiotherapy (programme FSpS, B-F) (2)
- Physiotherapy (programme FSpS, C-FYZ)
- Course objectives
- The main goal of this course is to provide basic knowledge in Physical therapy and its usage in prevention, examination and therapy of musculoskeletal and nervous system influencing all parts of human existence as a part of comprehensive rehabilitation.
It´s important to meet a student with general principles of individual physical therapy parts, physiological or patophysiological organism response on their application and with possibilities of electrotherapy. - Learning outcomes
- Students will be able to:
- identify and summarize the importance of physical therapy and its role in the development of a short-term rehabilitation plan;
- identify and describe indications and contraindications of mechanotherapeutic, thermotherapeutic, hydrotherapeutic, phototherapeutic and electrotherapeutic physical therapy procedures;
- design and explain the aim of the therapy and with regard to it choose the most appropriate procedure or their combination, including the setting of individual parameters. - Syllabus
- Lectures:
- 01. Low-frequency current - Diadynamic current.
- 02. TENS and its division.
- 03. TENS with neuromodulation effect and its division.
- 04. Other types of TENS.
- 05. Alternating and simultaneous stimulation according to Hufschmidt and Jantsche.
- 06. Medium-frequency current - classical interference current.
- 07. Medium-frequency current - isoplanar and dipole vector field.
- 08. Contactless electrotherapy – low-frequency.
- 09. Distance electrotherapy.
- 10. Magnetotherapy.
- 11. High-frequency current – diathermy therapy.
- 12. Shortwave diathermy.
- 13. High-frequency current – ultrashortwave and microwave diathermy.
- Practical course:
- 01. Mechanotherapy – manual traction (of shoulder and pelvic girdle, lumbar spine), mechanical traction, couch for autotraction, vacuum compression therapy and ultrasound treatment.
- 02. Thermotherapy - heat medium different types application.
- 03. Phototherapy - low level laser therapy, biostimul color therapy, AVS.
- 04. Electrotherapy - security, principles, an individual positioning, intensity, time and frequency of procedures. Focused placement of electrodes on different body parts (skin, subcutaneus tissue, fascia, muscles, joints, ligaments,...). Electrode polarity, quality and wraps.
- 05. Application of galvanic current and iontophoresis (principles - protective solutions x layered electrodes, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures). Four-chamber bath with galvanic current (principles, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
- 06. Diadynamic current: general effects, therapeutical effects, methods of applications and indications/contraindications.
- 07. Träbert´s current – placement of electrods and their polarity focused on the required effect, Farad´s, Neofarad´s, Leduc´s current (security, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures).
- 08. Medium-Frequency current – Classical Interferential current.
- 09. TENS treatment (traditional, acupuncture, hyperstimulation mode). Importance of CV mode. Principles, effects, an individual positioning, current density, intensity, time and frequency of procedures.
