Course objectives
The main aim of the course is to acquaint students with contemporary approaches and topics of social psychology and their application to problems encountered in security sector and to concrete experience of individual students. Focus of the course is mainly on discussion and practical exercises. After completing the course, students should be able to analyze analyze social situations they participate in and reflect their role in constitution of these situations.
Learning outcomes
After the completion of the course, student should be able to: - identify social environment - analyse internal and external motivation - evaluate social dynamics
Syllabus
  • Social psychology. Influence of group on individual – culture, norms, roles. Relationship of individual to the others – attitudes, stereotypes, prejudice. Social groups. Social influence in groups – conformity, innovation, group decision-making, authority. Group performance. Inter-group relationships. Pro-social behavior. Aggression. Cooperation and competition. Conflict and conflict management. Communication. Psychology in security sector - police psychology.
