Course objectives
This course follows the course Ecopsychology I and offers insights into new topics and current studies. The aim of the course is to deepen and widen students' understanding of people’s relationship to nature and the environment.
Learning outcomes
Students know the importance of psychological aspects of human-nature/environment interactions.
Students are familiar with theoretical and terminological basis of conservation psychology.
Students are more sensible of people's experiences connected to relationship towards nature.
Students can apply acquired knowledge to environmental education, social marketing campaings and mass communication of environmental issues.
Students can better understand their own relationships towards nature and the environment.
Syllabus
  • 1) Developmental psychology of relationship to nature and the environment (from birth to adolescence)
  • 2) Psychology of relationship to animals
  • 3) Psychology of climate change
  • 4) The Czechs’ relationship to nature and the environment
  • 5) (the topic will be specified)
  • 6) Experiential ecopsychology (outdoor class)

Teaching methods
Lectures, problem tasks solving, experience sharing , discussions, self-experiencing activities, individual readings and homework.
Assessment methods
1. Active attendance at classes (max. 1 absence per 7 classes), 2. Individual preparations for classes and homework (2–3 times per the term), 3. Small tests (2–3 times per the term), 4. Final written exam (multiple-choice).
