- Course objectives
- The main aim of the course is to support and accompany students in the process of the final thesis topic preparation, the formulation of research questions and the preparation of the basic framework of the diploma thesis project. The aim of the course is to provide students with support in orientation in research topics with respect to the master's degree study specializations and in line with the research priorities in field of psychology at the Faculty of Social Studies (research activities of the Institute for Research of Children, Youth and Family, and Department of Psychology FSS MU).
The course focuses on:
- extending of existing methodological knowledge and skills of students;
- supporting the ability of critical reading of literature;
- supporting the integration of the various aspects of the qualitative and quantitative approach;
- solving of specific questions and strengthening of skills related to the implementation of different types of research design;
- strengthening the "craft" skills required in all phases of the final thesis preparation (including psychohygienic issues).
The course has a project and discussion character.
From the literature review and discussion, the relevant research projects for the diploma thesis should be developed. - Learning outcomes
- After completing the course the students should be able:
- to formulate a research question and project on the basis of which it will be possible to carry out their own research;
- to start the processing of their diploma project. - Syllabus
- Introduction - ideas, questions, preferred field of psychology, basic needs in process of topic selection.
- Writing the diploma thesis - expectactions, risk and protective factors, supervisor/student role and responsibility, etc.)
- Presentation of projects, ideas and unresolved issues, offering current topics - researchers from IVDMR and Department of Psychology.
