Course objectives
The basic aim of the course seeks to uncover the interdependence between the biographical experience of individual social actors and historical dynamics of the institutional structures of society. At the end of this course, students should be able:
(a) to understand basic concepts of sociology (b) to formulate interpretations of social phenomena by means of sociological concepts

Assessment methods
The course is finished by a written examination. To obtain credits students also have to write three papers during the term: two short essays and one longer paper that will be a result of a group project in which students try to develop a sociological interpretation of their secondary school experiences.
Course requirements: (a) group project paper, (c) written exam.
