Course objectives
The aim of the course is to influence student´s attitudes towads people with mental illness experience; to adopt parnership with peer konsultants in multidisciplinary team, to support and encourage hope of people in recovery process. Students should gain actual information and knowledge of helping people with mental illness experience.
Learning outcomes
Students are aware of media influence on de/stigmatization of people with mental illness experience, how is issue of mental illness represented in society and what influence it has on people with experience of mental illness diagnoses. They know the difference of stereotype, stigma, discrimination and self-stigmatization. Students knows the history and forms of Peer programmes. They know about actual forms of peer programs in CZ and abroad. They are able to use basic principals of peer programs in practice. Students know and understand the recovery concept. They are able to identify difference between clinical and individual recovery, they know the phases of recovery. They know what in recovery process helps and what not and how the people in recovery process can help themselves. They know the rehabilitation methods which use recovery aproach. Students understand term self-management, know it´s parts and limits in use in social services. They can use the knowledge for clients and themselves.
