Course objectives

Students have documented their ability to publish results of their original research, either in the form of a research paper or a monograph. They understand the principles of the writing and publication processes, have first hand experience with communication with editors, reviewers, and/or editorial boards.

Learning outcomes

After successfully passing the course, student will be able to interpret, evaluate, revise and utilize these qualities effectively in the publication process.

Syllabus

At least one professional publication of the specified type is published. (see Evaluation methods and criteria). In the case of co-authorship, the minimum authorship share must be 50%. A publication is recognized when it is accepted for publication (email from the editor) or published (also applies online first). The publication must be entered in IS MU. The text is typically located in the MU repository. The publication should be marked for transfer to RIV (not applicable if the student worked on the publication as part of an externally funded project of his/her supervisor outside MU). Only original research texts are recognized.

Assessment methods

Credits are granted on the basis of a published research paper/monograph. 

From the matriculation year 2021/2022, one of the following options (in the case of co-authorship, the minimum authorship share must be 50%):

• article in WoS Q1–Q4 SSCI (20 ECTS)
  
• article in WoS Q1-Q3 including ESCI (20 ECTS)
  
• article in Scopus (20 ECTS)
  
• foreign or domestic monograph (20 ECTS)
  
• chapter in a foreign monograph, publisher category A, B (20 ECTS)

Matriculation year 2020/2021 and earlier years, one of the following options. (The number of credits is reduced according to the author's share of the students and is rounded up to a whole number if necessary):

• an article in English (or another highly relevant language) in a journal registered on the Web of Science (20 ECTS)
  
• monograph published by a major international publishing house (20 ECTS)
  
• chapter in a monograph published by a major international publishing house (20 ECTS)
  
• an article in Czech (or another minor language) in a journal registered on Web of Science (10 ECTS)
  
• monograph published outside a major international publishing house (10 ECTS)
  
• article in a journal registered in the SCOPUS database (7 ECTS)
