Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand psychosocial crisis as a inevitable and necessary part of personal development, and discuss knowledge in this area on a well informed level, whether related to invidual or social context. Thanks to casuistics presentation and interactive training students gain the ability to intervene practically. They will be able to evaluate their own abilities, motives and barriers for entering acredited crisis intervention training too. Eventually, they will became oriented in the difficulties of helping professions, relationship with a client and on possibilities of a prevention and a subsequent care.
Syllabus
  • Part I
  • 1) Opening, principles of collective work in the course, the selection of themes for an individual activity of students. Crises in life of a man.
  • 2) Context and situations of Crisis Intervention. "ABC model" of Crisis Intervention.
  • 3) CI – establishing a contact with a client (practical training).
  • 4) CI – cope with an emotions of the client (practical training].
  • Part II
  • 5) Students presentations (themes 1.-3.).
  • 6) CI – maping of the situation, the starter and sources (practical training).
  • 7) Students presentations (themes 4.-6.).
  • 8) CI – a crisis plan (practical training).
  • Part III
  • 9) Students presentations (themes 7.-9.).
  • 10) Personality of the crisis counsellor.
  • 11) Students presentations (themes 10.-12.).
  • 12) The relationship between client and counsellor. Ending of the course, feed back.
