The student should have a CEF (Common European Framework) B2 level of English language competence in SPEAKING and ORAL INTERACTION to obtain credit for this course.
Course Enrolment Limitations
The course is offered to students of any study field.
Abstract
The AIM of this course is to verify that the student has at least a CEF B2 level of English in SPEAKING and ORAL INTERACTION.
Key topics
This credit course is for language competence verification only. There is NO participation component, except for the presentation/discussion during the exam period.

Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
The presentation and discussion are evaluated using the criteria of the SPEAKING and INTERACTION Sections of the CEF at the B2 level (appropriate explanation, argumentation and description; organization, coherence and cohesion; adequate vocabulary and grammatical structures; comprehensible pronunciation and intonation).

The test is conducted in the form of an ORAL PRESENTATION 3 times a year during the exam period: (Jan/Feb, June, Sept.)
Please sign up for a presentation time in IS at least 3 working days in advance of the test date in IS (which is posted in IS about 1 month in advance).

GENERAL PARAMETERS:
(1) THEME: You should give an academic presentation selected by you from your field of study to present to the examiner and several other students who may NOT be from your field of study
(2) LENGTH: 8-10 minutes
(3) FORM and STRUCTURE: based on academic standards (i.e. interesting and informative TITLE, INTRODUCTION with purpose statement, informative and coherent outline of MAIN POINTS, SUMMARY of discussed points, evaluative CONCLUSION, polite CLOSING and invitation to QUESTIONS)
(4) AUDIO-VISUALS: PowerPoint is available
(5) DISCUSSIONS: leading your discussion and participating in other students' discussions will demonstrate your interaction skills.

RECOGNIZED CEF B2 LEVEL EQUIVALENTS:
(1) MU MASTER'S CJVA2M English, FCE, Pitman ESOL Intermediate, TOEIC score 541-700, BEC Vantage, TOEFL iBT (internet-based) score 62-91, TOEFL cBT (computer-based) score 177-233, TOEFL pBT (paper-based) 503-577, IELTS 5-6, State Language School, etc.
(2) relevant COURSE WORK completed at a university where the study language was English
(3) PRESENTATION at a conference held in English (the student must be the author and presenter; the student must also submit the audio-visual (e.g. Power Point)of the presentation, the written abstract and proof of participation)

ZÁPOČET z anglického jazyka se vypisuje zpravidla 3x ročně ve zkušebních termínech: leden/únor, červen, září. Studenti doktorských studijních programů se zaregistrují do IS do předmětu pod kódem D_AJ_1, v jehož agendě naleznou přesné datum a hodinu zápočtu. Zápočet probíhá formou ústní prezentace. K zápočtu se studenti přihlašují nejpozději 5 pracovní dny před jeho termínem v IS. Kritéria pro hodnocení zápočtu z angličtiny:
VŠEOBECNÉ PARAMETRY:
(1) akademická prezentace na odborné téma vztahující se k tématu doktorské práce dle vlastního výběru
(2) rozsah: 8-10 minut
(3) formální stránka odpovídající akademické prezentaci (název, úvod, hlavní část, závěr, ukončení)
(4) užití adekvátních audiovizuálních pomůcek
(5) vedení následné diskuse na téma prezentace k přípravě a podání prezentace se doporučuje využít materiálů v IS: D_AJ_1 – Studijní materiály.

EKVIALENT ZÁPOČTU

Pokud student skládal zkoušku z jazyka již dříve, může požádat o zadání zápočtu do IS formou e-mailové zprávy garantovi předmětu Šárce Roušavé (rousava@fss.muni.cz). Zadat zápočet do IS lze v případě, že student úspěšně složil zkoušku z anglického jazyka na MU či jiné univerzitě, jejíž součástí byla ústní prezence odpovídajících parametrů.
