Course objectives
The course will focus on the cultural and social dimensions of the Mediterranean landscape of southern Hungary, especially on environmental problems and alternatives lifestyles (including a visit to an village whose inhabitants live a sustainable and voluntarily modest life)
Learning outcomes
Upon completing the course, students will be able to: - identify and summarize the main characteristics and development of the Mediterranean landscape of southern Hungary - identify current ecological problems of protected landscapes in part due the long-term coal mining - describe and analyze life in the largest Hungarian eco-community
Syllabus
  • The excursion will take place on 25-28 April (Thursday-Sunday) 2024 in cooperation with the University of Pécs (Pécsi Tudományegyetem) Programme: 25.4. Journey to Pécs. Evening: city tour 26.4. Morning: lectures by Hungarian colleages. Afternoon: excursion around Pécs (Mediterranean landscape) 27.4. Excursion to the Krishna village at Somogyvámos (www.ecovalley.hu) 28.4. Journey back to Brno. The department will contribute to the costs depending on the number of participants.
