- The course is focused on academic text comprehension, ability to communicate and present academic topics, writing and practising grammatical categories. Student should be able to follow an academic discussion, understand the main ideas of academic texts of their field of study, interact with a native speaker fluently and spontaneously and explain their opinion on current issues.
- Learning outcomes
- At the end of the course students can listen to the radio and watch documentary films, they should understand lectures and the main ideas of relatively complex text on both concrete and academic/professional topics, including discussions in their field of specialisation; can produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of academic/professional subjects and explain a viewpoint on a topical issue. The course is focused on academic skills and professional language.

- This is a 2 credit course. The criteria for gaining the credits are: 1. compulsory attendance (80%), 2. 5 assignments during the term = news, 1 minipresentation, 1 video + summary, 1 academic text relating to students study fields + summary, reading (book)
