Prerequisites
No prior knowledge of law is required. The course is therefore also suitable for students of other disciplines. • A prerequisite for successful completion of the course is an interest in media law issues and a willingness to actively participate in the course. This includes not only discussion, but above all solving practical problems in the field of media and discussing them. The nature of the course does not allow for distance learning; students with approved ISP are required to participate in the course in full.

Abstract
The course enables law and journalism students to find ways to communicate about their field to other professionals, provides students with practical experience and knowledge from the media and legal environment, and teaches them that complex social issues and institutions are not dealt with by just a single field of law.
Learning outcomes

After completing the course, students will be able to:

- Explain the limits of freedom of expression and when criminal penalties may be applied.

- Analyze a legal case and propose an appropriate solution.

- Explain how journalists and lawyers differ in their views on legal issues.

- Law students will be able to communicate about legal issues with media professionals and vice versa.

Key topics

The aim of the course is to examine:

What rights do journalists have?

How is privacy protected?

How can the media interfere with the rights and protected interests of others?

What practical measures can be used to assess the admissibility of a journalist's work?

What means of defense are available when a journalist's rights are violated? And when privacy is violated?

How do courts judge cases involving the protection of personality rights in media law?
