- Abstract
Pediatrics is a medical field focused on comprehensive health care for children and adolescents from birth to adulthood. The basic aspect of the field is its preventive focus. Emphasis is placed on the correct physical and psychological development of the child. The aim of the pediatrics lectures is to familiarize students with the issues of therapeutic and preventive care in the field, to gain basic knowledge about the most common childhood diseases and risk factors threatening the healthy development of children and adolescents.
- Learning outcomes
- The student has knowledge of the origin, course, treatment and prognosis of the most common childhood diseases. The student is able to define risk factors that threaten the healthy development of the child and adolescents.
- Key topics
- Age categories, growht and development during childhood. Physiology and pathology of newborns. Disorders of the psychomotoric development in early childhood. A child with a neurological disease. Diseases of respiratory and circulatory system. Diseases of blood with specific references to rehabilitation. Diseases of digestive systém. Inborn errors of metabolism. Endocrinology diseases. Nutrition during childhood. Diseases of the locomotor apparatus in children. Emotional and behavioural disorders.
