Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with basic knowledge and practical skills necessary for administering first aid.
Emphasis is placed on mastering specific procedures, including effective communication.
Interactive teaching methods and practical training contribute to reinforcing theoretical knowledge and prepare students to handle real-life emergency situations.
Learning outcomes
The student will be informed about main acute life threating conditions, their causes, symptoms and ways of first aid steps till professional providers come.
Syllabus
Week 1 Introduction to First Aid, Legal Framework, Safety Principles of first aid, ethics and legal responsibility, rescuer safety, emergency calls, initial contact with the injured Lecture + discussion + demonstrations Week 2 Life-Saving Procedures I – Unconsciousness, CPR Safe approach to unconsciousness, recovery position, adult CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) Theory + practical training Week 3 Life-Saving Procedures II – Massive Bleeding, Shock, Choking Control of massive bleeding, recognition of shock, first aid for choking Practical training + scenario simulations Week 4 Injuries and Acute Conditions Fractures, cervical spine immobilization, thermal injuries, allergic reactions, epilepsy, stroke, chest pain Lecture + practical training + case simulations Week 5 Integrated Practice, Review, Scenario Exercises Practice of overall first aid procedures, teamwork, handling complex scenarios Group work, simulations, final summary
