Prerequisites
At the beginning of tuition (1st year) zero knowledge is presupposed, at the beginning of the 3rd year, the knowledge of the basic general vocabulary and grammar in the extent of the textbook Kolektiv autorek: Czech for Beginners - Čeština pro začátečníky. 2nd ed., Brno, MU 1997, is required.

Syllabus
  • Aim of tuition: The aim of the tuition is acquisition of the ability to communicate in the Czech language with patients and medical staff in professional medical as well as routine communicative situations, to take relevant anamnesis, to read with comprehension medical reports, to use the basic form of written documentation. The set of knowledge and skills is given by needs of students associated with their stay and studies in the Czech Republic, particularly with the needs of the discipline studied and medical practice.
  • General characteristics of the subject: The tuition emphasises the development of communicative skills, and of all the other language means.

Assessment methods (in Czech)
The tuition is realised in the form of practical courses. At the end of each semester it is finished by a credit; at the end of the 1st, 2nd and 4th years students have to pass an examination (ETE) consisting of a written and an oral part; at the end of the 3rd year the tuition is finished by a colloquium (C) which involves an oral part only.
