Course objectives
Students will be introduced with the history of obesity, epidemiology, prevention, factors influencing the formation and development of obesity, the health risks of obesity, with nutrients metabolism and tissue metabolism,with fluid intake and sleep in obese people, the determination methods of dietary consumption, ways of assessing nutritional status and overview of testing in obesity,with psychology and its cognitive behavioral way.
Syllabus
  • 1) Definitions, history of obesity, epidemiology, prevention, causes and health risks of obesity.
  • 2) Genetic factors and obesity, methods of genetic testing in obese people.
  • 3) Macronutrients, micronutrients and seminutrients in nutrition of obese people.
  • 4) Obesity and fluid intake, choice of beverages.
  • 5) Sleep and Obesity.
  • 6) Obesity in children.
  • 7) Methods of assessment of nutritional status, an overview of the various tests in obesity.
  • 8) Methods of assessment of nutritional consumption.
  • 9) Psychological care, cognitive-behavioral way, communication.
