Course objectives
The aim of the professional nursing practice is: - acquiring and consolidating professional activities by implementing the nursing process in conditions of medical practice focusing on geriatric patients; - realization of individual nursing care based on knowledge of biopsychosocial needs and problems of geriatric patient; setting nursing diagnoses, care goals, plan of activities and evaluation of care; - shaping the professional qualities of the nurse; - consolidation of communication skills; - getting acquainted with the character of the treatment unit, with the medical staff, with the equipment of the treatment unit, with the medical documentation; - use of nursing and medical documentation and recording of changes of patients according to the competencies of the students.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
to understand the specifics of care and the organization of care in the geriatric department
to identify the needs and problems of geriatric patients
to perform nursing care in geriatric patients according to the nursing process.
Syllabus
  • The nursing practice is based on the conceptual model of the main determinants of the health of the World Health Organization, it is focused on the area of health promotion and disease prevention - primary care and training and acquisition of nursing, diagnostic and therapeutic activities. Workplace: FN Brno-Bohunice, Department of Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Practical Medicine - Department A, B, C, D.
