Course objectives
Bachelors thesis The prerequisites for assignment and processing of bachelors thesis are specified by an institute or a clinic responsible for teaching applicable bachelors programme. Definitive bachelors thesis is submitted by a student to the department of study of Deans office for deadline registration of the thesis according to timetable of the academic year. For the purpose of the bachelors thesis defence the leader of bachelors thesis and the opponent(s) elaborate expert opinion of the submitted thesis. The student must be acquainted with the expert opinion at latest three days before the date of defence.. The defence of bachelors thesis is the part of final state exam. Synopsis of the final state exam of bachelors degrese in optometry.
Syllabus
  • Technical optics, optical devices: 1. refraction of simple spherical or planar objects, index of refraction , optical refractiveness, light beam passage, nodal point, cross and angular magnification 2. thin lenses 3. thick lenses 4. lens defects 5. depth of sharpness 6. spherical and toric lenses, prisms effect 7. prisms 8. mirrors 9. optical devices (binoculars, microscopes, magnifying lenses, cameras) 10. ophthalmological devices (ophthalmoscopes, shadow-test devices, fronto-focimeters, slit-lamps, keratometers, refractometers, diagnostic lenses) 11. polarized light, quality of visual display, capacity of resolution Examination and refractive error correction: 1. refractive error assessment 2. myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism 3. aphakia 4. optical characteristics and materials of eyeglasses, correction of muscles imbalance 5. absorption lenses 6. bifocal and multifocal glasses 7. protective goggles 8. examination of visual acuity, color vision and contrast sensitivity 9. rigid and soft contact lenses, indication and contraindication of contact lens wearing, contact lens care 10. intraocular pressure measurement, visual field examination with perimeter and campimeter Disorders of vision and the eye: 1. anatomy of the eye 2. visual pathway 3. optical characteristics of the eye 4. physiology of binocular vision 5. binocular vision disorders 6. color vision 7. diseases of the lids: congenital anomalies, misplacement of the lids, palsies of lid muscles, inflammations of the lids, lid tumours 8. diseases of the conjunctiva: inflammations , red eye causes, degenerations and tumours of the conjunctiva 9. diseases of the lacrimal gland and lacrimal pathway: inflammations , tear film, dry eye syndrome, inflammations of lacrimal sac and lacrimal duct, tumours. 10. diseases of the cornea: congenital anomalies, inflammations, corneal dystrophies and degenerations 11. diseases of the lens: congenital anomalies, cataract, changes of lens position, aphakia, pseudophakia 12. diseases of the vitreous body: hemophtalmos, liquification, opacities 13. diseases of the retina: vascular disorders of the retina, hypertonic retinopathy, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment, retinal degeneration and dystrophies 14. glaucoma: diagnostic methods, open angle glaucoma, closed angle glaucoma 15. disorders of accomodation and convergence 16. presbyopia 17. magnifying aids for purblind people
