Course objectives
The goal of lessons is to acquaint the students with problematics of treatment and prevence nursing in the field. The student will be acquainted with the organization of the paediatric care. The student will be acquainted with details of taking care of newborns and intensive care of risk newborns. The student knows standard diagnostic procedures and tests for individual clinical conditions of the child and is able to apply them in practice.
Learning outcomes
The student has knowledge of the origin, course, treatment and prognosis of the most common childhood diseases. The student is able to define risk factors that threaten the healthy development of the child and adolescents.
Syllabus
  • The field of pediatrics. Child care management. Care of sick children. Preventive merasures in pediatrics. Age categoris, growht and development during childhood. Social issues in pediatrics. New-born infant, probléms with adaptation. Nutrition during childhood. Feeding of infants – breast feeding, formula feeding, nutritional disorders. Inborn errors of metabolism. Dissease of GIT, respiratory tract, kidneys. Dissease of the nervous systém. Convulsive disorders. Emotional and behavioural disorders. Disease of skin.
