Course objectives
Students will have general overwiev about all activities of general practitioner/family doctor, about main differences between general practicioners work and specialists work. Studentswill understand effective communication including communication with handicapped patients, social problems solutions and ethic aspects.

Students will understand effective communication including communication with handicapped patients, social problems solutions and ethic aspects.
Syllabus
  • general practice/family medicine, development, content and methods, family in the past and now, the family development, the influence of family situation on health and disease communication with patients and their families, empathy and prevention of burn-out syndrome, communication with handicapped patients, specificities of communication with psychiatrically ill patients home care for seriously ill patients: cardiovascular diseases, respiratory diseases, oncological diseases, diseases oc locomotion system, psychiatric patient at home or at non psychiatric department specificities of diseases in elderly, pharmacotherapy in elderly, geriatric syndromes, dementia ethical aspects of primary care, health life style education, interedisciplinary cooperation in health service, how to achieve compliance, cooperation with long-term care facilities and social facilities, different kinds of social facilities
