Course objectives
At the end of these lectures collection a student will be able to formularize and define needing methods, types of measurement and examination methods, which are needed for choosing and applying of contact lenses. The student will be able to compare particular materials and parameters. The student explains choice of contact lens for concrete refractive state.

Syllabus
  • Introduction to the subject, acquaint with problems, overview of literature and materials, demonstrations.
  • Terminology of basic allocations of contact lenses
  • Historical development of contactology
  • General overview of materials used for production of contact lenses, requirements for a material.
  • Geometry and design of contact lenses, methods and procedures of manufacturing.
  • Cornea topography, mathematical description of the anterior segment.
  • The anterior segment from point of view the applicator, indications, contraindications, possible eye damage by contact lens, keratoconus

lecture, credit Written with analysis of refractive error including both the selection of contact lenses according to the specified parameters, Gullstrand's schematic eye, a diagram of the structures of the eye and accessory organs. Multiple choice test from the taught curriculum, see Curriculum, assumes a minimum 85% success rate
