Abstract
B1-level language course. The aim of the course is to help students achieve B1 level knowledge of English by improving all language skills (listening, reading, speaking, writing) and systems of the language (grammar and vocabulary) within the given level. The course also intends to introduce and enhance academic vocabulary and skills (preparing and giving presentations, expressing opinions, etc.).
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will be able to:
- understand spoken LSP texts at B1 level of the CEFR;
- understand written LSP texts at B1 level of the CEFR;
- successfully participate in a spoken interaction dealing with relevant LSP issues at B1 level of the CEFR;
- show a good command of selected grammar structures at B1 level of the CEFR;
- use selected specialist terminology with natural and sophisticated control.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Group work and project work, role-play, presentations, feedback, short written assignments.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
1) Attendance at classes (maximum 2 absences per semester), 2) active participation in seminars, 3) completion of ongoing assignments, including homework, 4) mandatory portfolio assignments, including a project.

The credit assignment will include tasks on reception, oral and written production, and interaction. A minimum grade of 65% is required to pass the course.
