Course objectives
At the end of the term, students should be able to form the different forms of German nouns, pronouns and adjectives and to employ them in appropriate contexts.
Syllabus
  • - Exercise in finding word forms in texts and arranging them into paradigms;
  • - Analysis of word forms into stems and affixes;
  • - Formation and use of genitive forms in modern German;
  • - The week declension of German nouns;
  • - Plural forms and their predictability from the basic form;
  • - Pluralia tantum and defects in the plural formation of German nouns;
  • - The pronominal declension, case markers;
  • - The declension of the adjectives according to the syntactic context;
  • - Gradation of adjectives;
  • - The derivation of nouns and the dependence of the gender on the derivational suffix;
  • - The derivation of adjectives;
  • - Use of the German articles;

Assessment methods
In order to get credit points (a “zapocet”), students are required to:
1. regularly attend classes (no more than three absences),
2. prepare homework assigned during the semester,
3. pass a written test at the end of the semester (a minimum of 70% of the overall amount of points is required).
