Abstract
The classes of Practical German aim at the development of the basic language skills, especially oral interaction and expression. The students shall be enabled to develop their language-skills and apply it appropriately in certain situations and contexts.
Learning outcomes
The participants feel more at ease with spontaneous conversation in german, get rid of speech anxiety and are prepare better for presentations and discussion.

Current topics in the media of German-speaking countries, socio-political topics and speaking occasions. Competences: Arguing, describing, structuring

Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
The following requirements must be met in order to successfully complete the course (the exact tasks will be discussed in class and made available in the Is): Attendance and participation in class, completion of reading assignments, written homework and research assignments, independent preparation of texts and speeches (presentation, handout, discussion).
Alternate completion
Students on a study abroad program will be allowed to fulfill the requirements (after agreement with the instructors at the beginning of each semester) through distance learning.
