Abstract
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the field of special education of visually impaired at the level of bachelor study with a focus on lifelong learning. Students will be presented with the definition of the field and its interdisciplinary position, the system of education of this target group and specific measures and support in early, preschool and school age.
Learning outcomes
students should be able to: - Determine visual impairment and visual difficulties, occurrence and causes, peculiarities of psychological processes and personality development in visually impaired people; - to know the specifics of a child with visual impairment in early, preschool and school age, counseling and intervention; - to understand the educational system for the visually impaired in our country, to know the technical aids and equipment, the role of special pedagogical centers; - know how to specify Braille, how to write it; basic aids for people with visual impairments of different ages - know the specifics of support for students with visual impairments and visual difficulties in inclusive education

  • 1. Paradigm of education of visually impaired - definition of the field, history of support for people with visual impairment in our country and abroad, interdisciplinary cooperation
  • 2. Scope of people with visual impairment and visual difficulties. MDVI. Influence of visual impairment on the personality of an individual (perception, thinking, attention, behavior, speech). Psychomotor development of a child with severe visual impairment.
  • 3. Development of visual perception. Symptomatology of visual impairments.
  • 4. Examination of vision and visual functions for the needs of support, intervention and education.
  • 5. Early care - theoretical foundations of early care, services and their importance. Early-age child and his family.
  • 6. A visually impaired child of pre-school age., school maturity and school readiness (preschool education, child with impaired binocular vision and reeducation of these defects)
  • 7. A visually impaired child of school age. Specifics of teaching and support in inclusive education and in schools established according to Section 16, paragraph 9 of the Education Act.
  • 8. Special aids for visually impaired persons. Use of computer technology in the education of visually impaired pupils.
  • 9. System of education of visually impaired pupils in the Czech Republic from preschool age to adolescence.
  • 10. Counseling, support and intervention during preschool and school attendance. Counseling in the field of preparation and career choice.
  • 11. Communication of visually impaired people - teaching Braille. Access to information.
