Course objectives
The seminar will offer the theoretical and methodological insight into the problems of education of pupils with a different mother tongue. The students will learn the posibilities of being a part of chool mainstream of immigrant pupil. The students will understand the principles of aid measures, which gives the Czech educational legislation available. They will acquire the basic skills associated with the methodological approaches that enable the participation of pupils with different mother tongue. The students will get the overview of the the materials that are in practice, they will be able to use different sources of information and critically reflect.
Learning outcomes
After passing the course the student will be able to: • describe the target groups of the students with different mothertongue and introduce this issue in the context of the Czech Republic • orientate the basic principles of inclusive education and reflect these principles critically • orientate themselves in a system of support measures, in alternative approaches to support for students with different mothertongue (or alternatives to the classification of pupils with different mothertongue) • to characterize institutions and organizations involved in the education of pupils with different mothertongue • actively use supporting information and methodical materials
Syllabus
  • 1. Migration, Foreigners in the Czech Republic 2. Inclusion in Education: the immigrant pupils and the education in the Czech Republic 3. Integration of the pupil with the different mother tongue in the educational system of the Czech Republic (classification in grade, individual study plan, support assistant) 4. Multicultural education, integration of the pupil with the different mother tongue to the class community 5. Czech as a second language 6. Principles of work with pupils with a different mother tongue (practical tips on specific subjects) 7. Examples of good practice, literature and methodological materials.
