Abstract
The course aims to link acquired professional knowledge and practical skills of teaching instrumental and vocal training so that the student can apply them. Attention is paid to the vocal, rhythmical and kinaesthetic activities by using elementary musical instruments for children and other methodological tools.
Learning outcomes
Student
- demonstrates her/his skills playing the soprano recorder
- can create and practice musical games to develop skills such as bringing up the head tone, they should be able to create breathing and vocal exercises
- Develops sensorimotor skills using elements such as “play on the body”, rhythmic pulsation and feeling
- acquire basic timing skills (e.g. conducting) and apply them when working with children
Key topics
- Vocal activities: Elements of vocal training; Methodology of training homophonic songs. - Rhythmical and kinaesthetic activities: the basic elements of rhythmical activities - rhythm, metre, bar, the main and off beat, pace, ostinato figure. Body sounds. - The rhythm of words in the text, working with nursery rhymes and poems. - Introduction to conducting in 2/4, 3/4 and 4/4 time. - Introduction to the playing on the soprano recorder.

Approaches, practices, and methods used in teaching
Practical preparation: singing - monophonic song - work with text - accompanied on elementary music instruments and conducting. Playing the piano and soprano recorder; Body sounds. Composing Music for children's nursery rhymes/poems and writing it to the stave. Elaborate on the declamation of the text by employing acquired musical educative activities.
Method of verifying learning outcomes and course completion requirements
Type of teaching: seminar Credit requirements: a) A minimum of 80% active participation in seminars. b) Composing Music for children's nursery rhymes/poems, harmonisation in left hand and writing it to the stave. d) Mastering the basics of playing the soprano recorder (5 folk songs and two songs arranged for small children (h1, a1, g1, c2, d2)). e) 10 folk songs, four artificial songs: singing, playing the piano, conducting; for one folk and one artificial song, prepare own methodology of accompaniment – kinaesthetic element. f) 1 nursery rhyme/poem – kinaesthetic interpretation.
