Course objectives
Basic informations about folk-culture in Czech Republic. The types of folk-songs in Bohemian and Moravian areas. At the end of this course, students should be able to discern the main differences between the folk songs in Czech Republic. They should be able to apply these konowledges to singing and educational activities.
Syllabus
  • Two basic types of folk songs in Czech Republic. The types of folk songs in different areas of Bohemia and Moravia. Collections of bohemian and moravian folk songs. Traditional culture, regional aspect. Interpreter of folk songs and folk music.

Teaching methods
Lectures. Commented listening of folk songs.
Assessment methods
Lectures, presentation of folk songs, folk music, pictures and maps, collections of folk songs, class discussion. Requirements for credit: Oral project (different subjects: knowledges about folk music in specific regions and their practical presentation, interpreter of folk songs and folk music, activities of folklore ensembles etc.).
