It is presupposed that the student has passed the examination of Contemporary Czech Language 2 - morphology.

Course objectives
The students win a basic competence in the syntax of contemporary Czech language syntax. Modality of the sentence. Negation, types of the negation in the sentence. Word-order. Syntactical relation and language means for their utterance. Elements of sentence. Sentence and the compound sentence, types of the compound sentence. The orthography in syntax. Valence of the verb, grammatical structure of the sentence. In the end of the course students:
- know and are able to explain the terminology of the analytic syntax and valence syntax;
- master analysis of the sentence, complex sentence and compound sentence;
- are able to explain complex problems of the syntax.
The demands of the primary school teacher training are respect, too.

  • 1. Modality of the sentence.
  • 2. Negation in the syntax. Sentence with negation and sentence without negation.
  • 3. Irregularities in the syntactical structure.
  • 4. Non-subjective sentences. Equivalent of the sentence.
  • 5. Word-order.
  • 6. Syntactical relations, their expression.
  • 7. Elements of the sentence.
  • 8. Sentence, complex sentence and compound sentence.
  • 9. Compound sentence. Co-ordination.
  • 10. Complex sentence. Sub-ordination.
  • 11. Compound sentence with the complicated structure (with co-ordination and sub-ordination). Complex sentence with the complicated structure.
  • 12. Sentence analysis. Graphical scheme of the structure of sentence, of compound sentence and of complex sentence.
  • 13. Punctuation in the sentence, in the compound sentence and in the complex sentence.
  • 14. Valence, the grammatical structure of the sentence.

Ending: Oral examination
There are two part of the examination: a) practical (student gets to analyse one sentence/clause and one compound or complex sentence); b) theoretical (student gets two theoretical questions).
To get at least mark "E" student has to answer 75 % of the questions correctly.
