Prerequisites
The seminar takes place on German. Basic knowledge about the German-speaking countries is helpfully however not compellingly necessary. Aspected are language competences on the level of C1 of the European reference framework.

Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to understand and explain more about the german speaking countries. The goal of the seminar is the a critical approach to contents of cultural studies and to increase the language competences at the same time. Students are encouraged to work actively to improve the own language ability effectively and rapidly. The seminar is based on the idea of intercultural regional studies. The language work is integrated thereby. One works with authentic material.
Syllabus
  • In the seminar most diverse topics of cultural studies, which can also be used in concrete language lessons at school, are discussed and partly also the relevant exercises are realized. A didactical reflection is included. The seminar will be addressed three themes: 1) cultural-study-Theory: What is "Landeskunde", how understand specific the topic, which materials can be found in textbooks? 2) Art in cultural-studies and language teaching 3) History in cultural-studies and language teaching
