Course objectives
Students will learn basic objects, instruments as well as functions of the programme Atlas.ti. It is appropriate for the analysis of qualitative data, for management of larger data sets as well as for the analysis of open questions from questionnaires. It enables to analyze diverse types of data ranging from texts, pictures, videos to maps. After they will complete the course, students will be able to use the programme for their master theses or dissertations.
Syllabus
  • What is Atlas.ti good for? Advantages of the work with Atlas.ti.
  • Technical introduction into the work with the programme Atlas.ti - data management in Atlas.ti.
  • Basic objects in Atlas.ti.- primary documents manager, primary documents families, quotations, relations between quotations.
  • Working with codes - types of codes, how to make codes, code manager.
  • Another objects in Atlas.ti - memos, querry tool, outputs.
  • How to vizualize the data in Atlas.ti - network views.
  • Analytical tools - advanced methods in work with codes and primary documents.

Teaching methods
The course will have the form of seminar and will be practically oriented. Students will work with PC with installed software.
Assessment methods
Students will present their own projects to demonstrace how they comprehended the discussed topics.
