Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to understand, explain and use the basic knowledge of fundamental locomotor activities with a focus on walking, running, jumping, hopping and climbing.
Syllabus
  • 1. Simple enjoyable activities with objects, tools and equipment to improve fine and gross motor skills.
  • 2. Sensory and psychomotor games.
  • 3. Basic physical skills associated with spatial orientation, overcoming obstacles, using various equipment, moving in a group of children, moving in various environments and on various surfaces.
  • 4. Learning about the basic concepts relating to students’ own games and relevant equipment, basic rules and organizational guidelines for games suitable for preschool children.
  • 5. Physical games and preparatory exercises for the development of all physical skills, games for manipulation with various equipment, competitive games, creative games, games for improvement of physical skills as part of individual thematic units with an emphasis on the educational aspect of games (sense of fair play).
  • 6. Safety of games with a focus on appropriate clothing and footwear, especially for games in difficult conditions, activities aimed at injury prevention during games.
  • 7. - 12. Individual outcome on a given topic by means of a movement fairy-tale, in which the students use the technique and methodology of specific activities with a focus on inclusion in the daily kindergarten regimen, both indoor and outdoor.

Diagnostic assessment of gaming skills according to relevant curricula; demonstration of organization of physical games on a given topic; set of five written descriptions of physical games with a focus on the development of physical skills according to the educational programme for preschool education.
