Course objectives
Student provides basic information on assessment of hearing impairments and methods of assessment, possible ways of cooperation between a special needs teacher and other professionals.
Learning outcomes
The student is oriented in the diagnostics of auditory defects and methods of special pedagogical diagnostics - surdopedic; it focuses on the possibilities of diagnostics in the period of preparation for compulsory school attendance and vocational training children and pupils with hearing impairment; can describe a system of early intervention in children with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic; is able to state the working methods and the importance of teamwork of experts participating in the care of an individual with hearing impairment at an early age.

Assessment methods
Case study of a child with hearing impairment, Comprehensive report (2-3 pages) about possibilities of early assessment and further care for children with hearing impairments in the Czech Republic. Written test (it is necessary to successfully cope with 75% correct answers).
