Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to inclusive approaches to education of children at risk or with emotional and behavioral difficulties/disorders.
Learning outcomes
Basic knowledge on situation of children with EBD. Students can identify degrees of development of EBD - target groups. Students have basic knowledge about the system of counselling and institutional care about children at risk and children with EBD.
Syllabus
  • Introduction into the topics related to education of children with EBD;
  • Target groups, the concept of dynamics of development of behavioral disorder;
  • Personality oriented approach;
  • Definitions of behavioral/conduct disorder within the context of quality of life. Individual and social dimension of situation of children with EBD. The role of the process of labeling.
  • Behavioral difficulties/disorders as an educational need of the children. EBD as a barrier in children's life.
  • Behavioral difficulties/disorders within the process of education.
  • Processes of resiliency within the system of school environment.
  • Levels of the process of education of children with EBD (prevention, intervention, rehabilitation).
  • Individual help, guiding and support for children with EBD.
  • The system of counselling institutions.
  • The system of educational institutions and of institutions of counselling care.
