Course objectives
The basic aim of the subject is to reveal the relationship between the development of modern society and the change of forms of state organization.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students:
· Understand the continuity of modern society development
· Can estimate the positives and negatives of each phase
· Learn to read, analyze and interpret professional texts
· Find the ability to link the lectured subject with its own interpretations of texts
· Understand the causes of current risks (globalization, migration) and understand the logic of a proper problem solution
Syllabus
  • Syllabus:
  • 1) Establishment of modern society and its establishment in the Euro-American area
  • 2) Establishment of the "superiority" of the West as a sign of modernization and modern racism
  • 3) Generalized market, money, disciplination of society as a modern social bond
  • 4) Positives and negatives of nationalism, national school system and consequences of nationalism
  • 5) Establishment of transnational social order as an alternative to outdated forms of modernity
  • 6) Globalization and risky society, consequences of "democratization", risks and reasons for changes of school systems
  • 7) Current situation: transnational mobility, environmental destabilization and migration
